TX Tool Crib
США
Добавлен 4 янв 2018
Welcome to the Texas Tool Crib. When I was coming of age, I had the great fortune to learn a variety of different things from members of my family. I had family members that were electricians, carpenters, welders, millwrights, plumbers, mechanics, and farmers, just to name a few. I started this channel to talk about tools and how to use them. Along the way I will show you tricks and trades I have learned in my life. We’ll throw in some DIY tasks along the way as well. My hope is to help teach others some of the many things I have learned in my life. Hopefully, you will walk away more knowledgeable than you came. Let’s go to work.

Urban Carry Knife : What would your ideal urban carry knife include?
The package opening tool from Victorinox works exceptionally well. I would love to see it incorporated into other knives in the future. This is what my ideal urban carry tool would include.

Leatherman Quality Control Issues

I recently purchased a couple of new Leatherman Surges. To my dismay they were seriously lacking in quality. I’m curious if others have found similar experiences lately with recent purchases from Leatherman. If you have, I would love to hear about them.
Victorinox Companion (New York Style)

Victorinox generally innovates tools into their lineup very slowly, but when they do they are often done very well. The Companion is no exception. With the highlight of the Companion focused around the latest implement, the package opening tool, it brings a modern flair to the pocket knife.

The 40th Anniversary Edition from Leatherman is a major revamp of the FREE P4 platform. Notable changes include a much improved knife blade, the addition of a diamond file, and a bit exchanger which greatly improves on the capabilities of the original FREE P4. These major changes, combined with some minor refinements, takes this platform to a new level. It is my hope that Leatherman will incorp...

Leatherman Should Have This Feature In All Of Their Multi Tools!

Now more than just a one off custom, the adjustable plier head from Leatherman should be incorporated across all of their platforms in my opinion. This joint allows the end user to adjust the preferred plier tension, thereby offering a much better user experience.
My Thoughts On The Leatherman Arc

This new multi tool has been speculated about for months. It now appears that it will become reality in the not so distant future. In this video we will be discussing the tool set it is rumored to include. If this comes to fruition, it may very well be the best combination of tools Leatherman has ever assembled in a multi tool.

Leatherman Competitors Are Closing In!

I have become increasingly disappointed in Leatherman over the last couple of years. The latest Leatherman Garage release only adds to that disappointment. There are more and more companies nipping on the heels of Leatherman. I personally believe if they do not change the direction the company is heading in, they will soon find themselves on the outside looking in. Exceed Designs TIRANT Razor V...

5 Fixed Loop Knots That Are Easy To Untie
Alright. Now there is simply not any US-made manufactured goods that is worthy as a souvenir…guess I will have to bring some locally roasted coffee beans back to China.
How will we sharpen the package opener when it inevitably gets dull?
i hate victorinox swiss knife as a kid in the 80ties .....what a crap........italian stiletto was the holy grail XD.....and i hate leatherman since i buy my first smal version with no blade lock
your friends sidekick is an amazing tool, ....perfect to me with a better bouth side file :D
Thanks for this!! i was able to have a peaceful sleep
Love this thing, just hoping it'll come into the classic red soon
Gydddd
Awsome ideas, wish they would implement your ideas, they could make a lot of money on them
Love this one
I have the same Zorro versión. I found that sometimes I miss the cap from zippo since the chilmney gets too hot in windy conditions. That's my only downside. All the rest i love the feel of it and fuel last me for about 8 days as it came, no Change cotton yet.
Shoot, I've had mine since 2014 but left it behind bc cigs and college was too much for my tiny mind lol 10 years later I found it again and all I did was replace the flint with a lighter I had, pulled the wick a couple centimeters and refueled with Ronsonal fluid and boom! She works like new! She's a D 14 with the same case and body #. All you rly need is a pocket knife to disassemble and add/replace the necessary parts.
Sie brauchen keinen Phillips Schraubendreher die nagelfeile und der paketöffner öffnet 90% aller schrauben.
Can you do a few more wraps to make a variation of a tension less hitch
Use organic cotton, the fuel will last longer.
Thanks for the review! I love my new Rebar! You said the Surge was hands down your favorite multitool. What are your thoughts on the Victorinox SuperTool? Thanks.
Great video. Love this multi tool as well, and I agree the 1 thing going against it is no pocket clip. I ended up being one on amazing for 2 dollars and slapping it on and it's fantastic... of course their new version comes with a pocket clip but I didn't wanna spend $30 on an entirely new one. The Amazon $2 clip works great
That is VERY clever. I want to end-to-end connect two 8-foot wooden curtain rods (1.25" dia). Now I know how.
I added the Nite Ize pocket clip to my Gerber Prybrid, I am really happy with it.
Recently got the Arc and swapped the cutters from my Wave just for peace of mind. But looking at my P4’s that I bought more than 2 1/2 years ago, one cutter is the newer design and one is the older. And I bought it new from Leatherman and have never changed the cutters. Never noticed until now, but I’ll only change it if it ever breaks.
It all depends on diameter of the rope and object you are putting it on. It is one of the most widely used "knots" (hitch, I know) for anchors in rock climbing - super strong and super reliable with 9-10mm rope on a carabiner. A thin piece of cord on a pipe that thick in diameter... no.
Those are cool but by the time you add a bunch of locking pins so assholes at the boat ramp won’t steal them it adds up. Think I’ll just stick to the ball mounts I already have only have two trailers anyway.
Always overfilled i got used to jazzz handing fire off but now i dont have to thank you. Yes jazz hands it worked everytime and i filled it bout 2-3 times a week so lot of practice flame jazzing.
Similar to imitation slipped bowline
Do one for bolt hole pattern layout the old school way
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Wheredid you get yourbrake drum?
A friend of mine works at a trailer repair business. They have hundreds of these drums, usually scrap them out.
Hey Ben. If you go out to dinner with Family casual dress what will you EDC? Same question of formal or semi formal outing? You’ve been quite hope all is well!!

I need a utility knife strong enough to cut a soda can. The one you feature in this video isn't. Do you know of one that is without entirely emptying my wallet? Thank you.
why don't you like magnets?
You talk way too much
I used this tutorial for my Otter Defender Pro for the iPhone 15. I have to say, intitially trying to decipher the directions on the box was really pissing me off. You relieved my frustration. Thanks.
edit is more info and from that I would have to extrapolate that the leatherman bits would not work but would fall through. Great video all around, good detail, very well spoken, it may be a little too late, but I wounder if you had a standardized set of criteria in reference to leatherman extenders bits etc other multitool functionality and general info and performance not necessarily in that order, if it would be for lack of a better world more standardized? I imagine some micro ratchets have and don't the max torque specs. so in some vid you have this X ratchet is rated for ... lb/ft etc and some don't which more than likely means it will not be very strong, other things like the 711L it warns that the leatherman fitting will get damaged if you put a lot of force, so there are other limiting factors etc.
How do I prevent the fuel dripping out while refilling the lighter? Does anybody else have that problem?
Very cool.
Thank you
I have a CS4 which I love. In the UK were extremely restricted but the CS4 is perfect. Im too scared of breaking it or loosing it now though. I wish leatherman would bring back the Juice line they were fabulous.
As far as UK friendly tools I have some comments as many look at the Bond for this reason. Besides the Bond consider: In the UK a blade-less multitool seems like it would be appealing. I mean a bunch of locking tools and you can just carry any non- locking knife you like maybe a SAK Compact if your tool doesn't have scissors for example or a SAK Walker if your multitool doesn't have a saw, or a SAK Waiter so you can open a beer or bottle of wine without getting a bigger tool out... There is still a tool-less Rebar and there used to be a tool-less Fuse or get a SOG and just remove the knife, replace it with something else if you wish as they sell individual impliments. If you could find a Leatherman Leap it allows you to remove the knife and is lightweight... Also there was a Leatherman Kick that had no locking blades including the knife and some (few) had pocket clips (sold separately). It just had screwdrivers, a knife and of course and plier head but it was light. Speaking of old tools if one could find a PST, PST 2, Sideclip, or even a Gerber MPT (copy of PST) they'd all work in the UK I believe. So I hope I gave you some UK friendly ideas to ponder...
I gave $50 for my "Wingman" nearly 7 or 8 years ago. I felt like that was too much at the time. I was really disappointed in the scissors.
Am i the only one who uses knifes as a weapon
best by differ expiration
push stroke and pull stroke, like rear wheel drive and front wheel drive.
i have the same problem with my leatherman surge and my new wave just didn't feel right with all it's rattling and unfinished edges and being in south Africa its very hard to send it in and it is more expensive which makes it less worth buying (3113 rands is = to 173 Dollas)
Thank you for refreshing my memory
The finest multi tool i ever held in my hands second to none.
Cadet X with the new package opener… but the new Companion is pretty nice, I’d just want to change the scales.
I think the reason the bit driver isn’t centred in the middle layer is because it would obstruct the main blade nail nick. It would be almost impossible to open up that blade.
Replacing the scissors with a reamer punch on a Wave+ wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit, lol.
I contributed on 1/6/21 for the Union, and am still awaiting to receive mine..
28:58 You showed an unnatural way to form a knot! This knot is tied without using fingers. Whole palm. This knot has long been used by sailors in the Soviet Union and now, thank God, in the post-Soviet space. You can easily find on Russian-language RUclips the correct way to form a knot. And further. The knot has one weakness. If you do not take it into account, the knot will be dangerous!!! Unfortunately, you didn’t talk about this. Perhaps you don't know this.
